Monitor top spotted in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Here is the clip, you can see it over the shoulder in the first few seconds and then several other times during this segment: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wo5TznA5asGranted, not likely historically accurate given the fact that a farm like that wouldn't have had electricity, but still cool.

! I suspect that was taken in a cold room, on a cold or insulated surface. Look at how the spilled so2 barely evaporates, with just a mild wisp of condensation above it. That may help the amount of vapor actually released into the air. ...and/or the model is wearing a gas mask off camera

There's a video game called L.A. Noire, released in 2011. It takes place in 1947 and is a film noire style detective game that takes you all over a pretty accurately rendered LA of the 1940s. Several apartments and houses have CK model Monitor Tops in them. I've been trying for three days to find a screenshot but have been unsuccessful so far. I'm going to have to play through the game again to get it. When I do I'll post it.

1935 "If Only You Could Cook" Herbert Marshall, Jean Arthur, Leo Carrillo, Lionel Stander, also 1936 "My Man Godfrey" William Powell and Carole Lombard. Not to mention '42nd street, WB pictures 1933. Those are the first films that come to mind. Also, watching an episode of Andy Griffith last night, there was a shot in Barny's apartment and he had a '32 DR GE monitor top.

Here's a publicity shot from "My Man Godfrey" Where William Powell is attempting to create his "pixie remover" for Mrs. Bullock. And there it is, a beautiful double door, deco hinges and latches common on the '32 models with a CK top. Nice machine. www.flickr.com/photos/27309380@N06/12980100644/

And, also on film, this GE 10 minute film by GE from the Chicago World's Fair "Century of Progress" exposition. The '33 CA "soup can" models are shown in this film. Quite a fun look into 1933's world's fair. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGyrFUA1DIs

In the Australian TV series Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries is a DR. Recently, I saw an article in one of the TV guides where they mentioned it's a fake. That doesn't surprise me given the rarity of them here. Apparently, the set makers visited a museum in Melbourne to see a real one to make a copy out of wood. (A lot easier to move about on set I imagine). www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOSdn5G1rQg(Link provided by rambler64)

Oh that's neat! A wood one would be lighter for sure! I've seen a '35 CK in an American 1980s sitcom called "Family Ties" with Michael J. Fox. There's a scene where they go camping in a cabin and there's monitor top in the kitchen. Funny, when I was a kid and I saw that fridge in the back ground, I thought it was so unique and wondered what it was.

In The Vampire Diaries, Season 3, Episode 3, there's a scene where we see Stefan's (one of the vampires in the show) apartment. It apparently hasn't been occupied since he last lived there in the 1920s. There's a Monitor Top shown as the camera pans the apartment. It's one that the door opens from right to left. -Jake

Was watching the Dick Van Dyke show the other day on our Roku box. A flash back scene to Rob and Laura's early marriage took them to Anchor Texas. In their small apt. there, they chose to dress the set with a 1931-32 DR-1. They placed a fan in side near the evaporator and had it blowing cooler air on them as they sat on chairs! lol Charming photo! www.flickr.com/photos/27309380@N06/14838518266/

Last night I was watching a re-run of the Adam's Family at a friend's house. There was a scene where Lurch was in the pantry ironing... And there I saw what looked like a mid 30s cabinet with a '29 or '30 DR-2 top on it! The hardware on the cabinet what I could see was mid 30s stock. These TV shows probably either made a model or put together stuff for the set. Pretty odd combo.

GREAT STUFF That truck seems so antique to me today but it was only maybe twenty years old in 1968 my father had a truck like that when I was twelve (in 1968) it had a dent in the rear fender and we tried to bang it out with a sledge hammer...would not budge...built like a battleship!!!!!
