My DR2 that I picked up in Sydney last weekend has been reassembled and is running well. After putting the top back in place and repairing the cord from the transformer to the control unit, I switched it on and the motor fired up but it didn't get cold. Tapped the side of the float valve housing with a soft hammer and turned it on and off but still nothing. I left it running for a bit longer and eventually, to my great relief and surprise, the temperature gauge dropped a few degrees. Within an hour the temperature had dropped to below O degrees Celsius. It was working for the first time in more than thirty years.
The cabinet is a Type K-4 Serial number 134 and the cooling unit is a DR2 Form D. Will post some pics in the next couple of days and the history of the fridge once I have checked a couple of details with the previous owner.

You've been very lucky so far with both you acquisitions. I'm interested to know about the transformer, if it's an auto transformer, how it's mounted to the cabinet, etc. I'm coming to the conclusion that the CA's sold in Australia were supplied with a free standing transformer, because there's just no evidence of them being mounted under the cabinet. Yet, I have seen a CK and DR with transformers under the cabinet.

The transformer is GE and it is mounted under the cabinet towards the rear.

Brine filled Evap! Perform a close inspection of copper to steel braze joints onto evaporator. If heavy pitting is present need to treat before rust gets to solder and causes a leak. I love this model that has the most tubing brackets!!

Thanks. I had read that so I had a look at the joints before it went back in. All joints seem to be fine but I will have a closer look.

Are you the one that needs shelves? I can't find the measurements you posted on flickr. Please email me at stlmovieguy at yahoo dot com and I will begin looking.
Also, are the top row of shelf pins straight across? Meaning, would the top shelf have been straight or have an offset under the evaporator?
