The local high school band that my son plays drums in has a "Band Bash" fund raiser in August each year. This year it is August 10th. I have a local body shop that is going to paint this frig in the school colors and mascot. (I will say sorry now to all you purist that like them in white.) I have to get it rewired, new start relay and cold control. Also try to fix the broken moldings the best I can and make something to go in the handle were the International Harvester piece is missing. I have 2 weeks to get things ready to go to the body shop and about 5 &1/2 weeks before I donate it too their auction. Here is what I am starting with. In just a few hour work I have all the moldings removed and the door gutted most of the way. Gotta get a cold control, start relay and door gasket material looked up for it and on the way.

Well this IH is back from painting. It is the done in the local high school colors with the school mascot a Grey Ghost on the door. This one will be auctioned off on August 10th, I hope someone pays too much for it as I have donated it to the band and all proceeds go to them. My younger son is starting his 3rd year in the high school band in the drum line.

Spent a stupid amount of time this week emery clothing the shelves for this IH. I wasn't planing to do much to them but then decided to clean a little and never stopped. It isn't perfect as you can still tell they were sanded if you look. But they sure look a lot better than they stared. Shot them with clear to seal the metal till someone wares it off. This one is part way sanded. Sprayed with clear. Finished product, not the same as new but they sure look look differant.

No I did not. Just cleaned them the best I could by hand and clear coated them.

Well this IH is in a new home tonight. A couple who has a boy that is new to high school band bought it and I delivered it to their house. It now lives in air conditioned house in the finished basement. They seem real happy to have it and will take care of it. They paid $900 that all went to the high school band. Now I have an empty spot in the garage, wonder how long that will stay empty

It's nice to know it's gone where it's appreciated. Not just because it's old, but because of the work you did on it. Now comes the fun part of filling the space it once occupied .

After we set it in the corner of the new owners basement he decided that it is too nice to leave in the corner was was talking about rearranging it to be the show piece of the room. Gonna move one of his guitars to place it in the center of the wall. Even suggested that he might want the kids in the band to autograph it as a way to make it the focal point. They have a freshman in high school and another in 6th grade so he has a good 7 years that the high school colors will fit right in.

I have a 1952 int harvester. Very similar fridge. I've had it for decades. It runs like a charm, almost silent.

I have an International Harvester central air conditioner condensing unit from about the same era. 3 Hp, no Btu given. Worked fine when it was removed, connected to an oil furnace that had used up 12 of it's 9 lives and was returning to the soil from which it came. (Decades of condensate leaks were not kind to it.) The unit has been painted at least 3 times in different colors during it's life.
