This week I have completed a project which started out with no certain success and was extremely ambitious. I rebuilt the worst burnout compressor I have seen. It is a General Electric model CG Globe-Top refrigerator. This was a project which I did only as an exercise in self-education and to help with future repairs on more valuable units. The video is in several parts, with the link to each part provided below. The descriptions to each part also have a link to the next part. Hope you enjoy following along on this odyssey. Sincerely, David Part 1: https://youtu.be/veH7sEMOAgA

Outstanding work as usual David. I really like that control. Thanks! I had been trying to figure out how to emulate the control and that seemed like a relatively easy way to get it done. Sincerely, David

As usual very impressive work! I’m always impressed by your knowledge of all the different facets of what you work on. Thanks for the insight of a ball top .
As a side note I’m looking for a ball top door, and when I came across your post I thought you might be selling it for parts I guess I should have known better.

Well I was going to add a home page from eBay but wouldn’t accept pictures. But there is a globe top there for a mere 2000 dollars . So after all you’ve done I’d trust yours over the one on eBay. But that’s me .

But that’s me . People on eBay often have deranged concepts of value for these (and many other) items! They will list an unrestored item described as "untested* but probably works" and put a price for a premium restored project on it. * Note; on any eBay listing, "untested" means "We plugged it in and there were sparks and smoke; so we won't plug it in again." Just clarifying that...

lol on the eBay test ,but I have to agree! I paid little over 100$ for mine, I would have to go back but it was advertised on the forum.
Hay just a thought maybe I should list my dr as eBay tested and ask thousand dollars for it. No couldn’t do that to someone.
