I just acquired this 1954 Frigidaire Cold Pantry. She gets cold but is rather loud and could use a new fan. Can anyone help guide me as to the appropriate fan for this beauty? Attachments:

I remember another enthusiast who has a fridge with a similar-looking fan design. Will reach out to him and ask where he got a replacement. Have you taken the cover off and looked at the fan to see how it's constructed and if possibly the fan motor just needs oiling?

I just acquired this 1954 Frigidaire Cold Pantry. She gets cold but is rather loud and could use a new fan. Can anyone help guide me as to the appropriate fan for this beauty? Hello Marge. I was talking to my friend who has a similar fridge. The part number for your fan motor should be 6540268. That can be replaced by a 33-914 Uni-Fit brand motor, according to the document I found. https://www.partsguy.com/pdf/ul/d40.pdf Someone is selling one on eBay now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234061133827 Please do your homework and look at the original motor and see that this one looks like it is a reasonable replacement for it, before buying it. You will have to carefully remove the fan wheel from the shaft of the original motor. This needs to be done carefully so as not to crack the fan. The fan is long discontinued but replacement motors are available. Sincerely, David Attachments:

Thank you David for all of the information and links!! I haven't taken the cover off yet as I am recovering from surgery at the moment. I have a repairman that specializes in vintage appliances that said he could help me swap out the fan.
I can't wait to get her up and running!

It's very fortunate you have someone willing to help with it! Hopefully he can confirm that fan motor looks like it will work.

That's a really nice Frigidaire!! If you're interested, you might be able to find an owner's manual for it on Ebay. I found owner's manuals for my two 1950 models and an advertisement for it on Ebay. Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll get many years of use and enjoyment out of it!!

Thank you both!!!
I am really lucky to have a knowledgable repairman, I would not attempt this on my own.
I've already bought the owner's manual and have an on going search for the egg holder. I look forward to getting her up and running. The light works intermittently, it needs a new spring. Hopefully I can get that working as well.

Good news! My appliance repairman was able to fix the problem without replacing the fan. Apparently at some point the fan had been knocked and was slightly out of position and vibrating against another piece of metal. He repositioned it slightly and the noise disappeared. Yay! Bad news! The handle had been repaired at some point and the weld just failed. Does anyone know where or how I can find a replacement handle? I'm not sure why the photo is loading sideways....

Yes, that handle has definitely been repaired before. Apparently, it is steel, or a weld like that one would have never worked in the first place. If it were mine, I would grind it and weld it again. Maybe you can find a good craftsman in your area that can make that handle like new again, and possibly get it re-chromed.

That's great about fixing the fan! But that stinks about the handle! Search Ebay for a replacement handle. I found one for one of my 1950 Frigidaires there. Mine was loose and sloppy when I first got the fridge. I just kept looking and one popped up. You can also talk to a local machine shop and see if they can fix it until you find a replacement. Don't be afraid to buy a whole junk refrigerator like yours too. You can strip all the good parts from that one to use on yours in the future. Then just scrap the rest of the junk fridge.

I have a friend that is a welder so I will reach out to him and continue looking for a replacement on Ebay or anywhere else. Ironically the handle broke just as the fridge, that this one replaced, was being hauled off.
