According to the serial number, this monitor top was manufactured in 1931. It spent some time at the Bittersweet Restaurant in Wolfeboro, where I acquired it when the restaurant closed. I have had it for 20 or so years, and it ran those 20 years…until sometime over the winter when it ceased to function. I do not know what went wrong, nor do I have the expertise to figure it out. When it was running, it made a great second fridge, as well as a conversation piece. Now that it’s not running, it’s not much more than a conversation piece. If you have the know how to tinker with it, or even retrofit with modern refrigeration equipment, this would make a great restoration piece. It’s heavy. If you are the lucky buyer, I will show you how to properly disassemble and transport it. You will need to bring an extra person, as I’m not going to assist in moving it. If the ad is up, it’s still available. I won’t be responding to “Is this still available” posts. Cash only. $250.00 You pick up. Email: bobmurray1234@gmail.com Email me for pics. I haven’t figured out how to attach yet. <Moderator has attached pictures 12 August 13:04> Central New Hampshire

It will be easier for potential buyers to decide if this is for them if you describe the problem with it. Was it left running unattended for months during winter, and when you returned it was no longer working? Does it run but not cool? Any visible damage to the machine you can see? Sincerely, David

Nice! That is a little DR-1-B fridge. Of all the DR machines (with open coil on top); the DR1 size are the most reliable. Over time, parts in the control box may become stuck and stop working. The most likely problem is in the control Would be best to make some tests and then go from there. Anyone who is looking to buy this is welcome to join our forum here and get some troubleshooting assistance. Also, the factory service manual on the DR machines is available, free. Sincerely, David

I have had it for roughly 25 years, and it was a runner. It has been kept indoors in heated space. It was our second (beverage) fridge for the majority of those years. The original control failed, so I put an electronic cold control in the circuit. It’s been running line that for about 20 of those 25 years. A few months ago, it just stopped working. Crickets. I have confirmed power to the cold control. But from there, I haven’t been able to get it to work. I have the original manual (reproduction). I just don’t have the where-with-all to invest the time or money into this. It was cool when it worked. Now, not so much. Space is limited, and I need a second fridge. This has to go. I hope the problem is something simple or something stupid. If it is, you’ll have a nice antique fridge at a cheap price. If it a bad compressor, you have a nice storage cabinet, or project.
Thanks for the help putting pics up for me!!

Thanks for the help putting pics up for me!! Bob Thanks for the details about the condition of the fridge. It sounds like the original control developed a problem with the thermostat function, which you successfully managed with the external temperature control. More than likely, the start-relay part of the control has finally developed a problem now, and has tripped. It may be that because of the condition of the control, it is impossible to reset it. Hopefully that is all that's wrong with it. Oh; and you're welcome, on the pictures.

Just out of curiosity, is what the fate of this machine was known? Not quite trying to ask "Is it still available" but more "What ever happened to".
