Our local park district has a building that was originally the site of an auto club back in the day. They still have the original ice box although it was converted to a belt drive R-12 system years ago. In more recent years they had installed a newer unit on top. I latter had the job of flushing out the evap and lines and installing a 134a unit up top. Pretty cool they have kept in in operation all these years. Not sure why it has the ICE-O-Matic and McCray names both. Coldspaces

This is really nice! I have a much smaller little old wood ice box, and seeing this tempts me to put a refer circuit in it.

This is a nice box, sometime they must have refinished the outside and it looks real good. I was there replacing a valve in their oven when I took these pics today. I noticed there are two doors that are missing their catches, they seam to shut good with out them though. No one was there then to ask why they were missing, assume they broke. Would love to find them replacements if that's what they need. That should be a needle in a hay stack. Would love to see pics of yours. Coldspaces

Seems like I seen a variety of hinges and latches for sale for these old ice boxes but for some reason I can't remember where. Maybe it was ebay. I'll take a pic of the old ice box. It's ugly and needs totally redone. Many layers of paint and even wall paper. Lol

Talked to the park director today and found out that one of the latches had indeed broke on this box. They removed it and a good one and have someone in the area that it planing to machine or cast new ones. Not sure how they plan to do it. Good to see it get such loving care.
