The bigger DR’s fail because they worked hard for the technology. It has nothing to do with the control. When you say they worked hard for the technology, do you mean the actual compressor was stressed to cool the larger cabinets?

Yes, and lack of air conditioning and later abuse during their life. There are many examples of 2 and 3 dr cabinets with replacement CK and FEA units to support this theory. The controls are rarely an issue, hot motors are.

Speaking of controls, if anyone needs a DR control relay, let me know.
I stumbled on one in my search for a CA relay, but my yoda (tommya11en) was able to provide one.
I haven’t tested the relay, but it seems to be in great shape. Happy to donate to a worthy cause.

Did all DRs have a fan?

I’m not positive about this, but I think only the newer generation had a fan. Think DR1 or D2.

Ok put it together and ran it with some tractor supply mineral oil to flush out whatever might still be hiding, and there was. Drawing 110 watts after running a little while. I think its good to go so I'm gonna slide the top on tomarrow and make sure it creating pressure before I weld it up. Learned on the CK-3 that it will only weld and seal if you pull a little vacuumed on it.

Where did you get them rewound at ? Did you keep them covered up while waiting for the staters to help prevent rusting ?

Found a place here in Texas to rewind them. Not cheep. I closed them up with oil inside but still got some rust. The so2 makes the metal rust quickly. Cleaned all the parts as I put them together.
