View AttachmentHi that is a nice looking one! The shutting down problem is very likely caused by a buldup of noncondensable gases in the system. It's a fairly easy but nonetheless tedious procedure to remove this buildup. Don't keep running it like this since each time it stops running, it does a little more and more damage. Search for NCG bleeding procedure and there are several good write-ups on it.

It certainly is a nice looking ca . Hate to burst your bubble but how good the out side looks is not necessarily how it is on the inside! 1 heater 2 wiring 3 non condescending gas needing purged
(Please ) look THROUGH the ca section before asking questions so many are answered there !!!! We are glade to have you here all we ask is is do a little research thanks !

Hi thanks for the reply, yes hopefully that is the cause, i have been reading a ton on the site and there is so much useful info. I assume i can bleed out the system with it off as it wont run long. I also found the ncg procedure and manual on this site so thanks all! I will keep you posted. Super excited to get this old gal running.

I have learned a lot on the site already in two days so i will remove the top and get into it. I have found lots of info and will keep questions to a minimal. i am very handy and mechanically inclined but i may get stumped as i am not so good with refrigeration. I did have one question though, i have not found any pics on utube or here that show if the inside top comes off of the bottom of the lid when you remove it. I assume it does and thats how you access the that area under the compressor? also not sure if the float is damaged or bad if i can get to that but i will keep diggin. Thanks!

I’m happy you’re finding the advice you need. Feel free to ask for clarification about any of it. You do need to make sure your heater is good and be sure the the unit is warm so you have outward pressure.
The CA manual is helpful.

Hi all, i am finally getting around to diagnosing my CA and why it doesn't run for very long. As i am reading the CA threads i understand that i need to check the heater. I used my multimer to check the ohms and i wanted to see if am doing this correctly. I set it to ohms and with the fridge in the off position and unplugged i put each meter prong on each the two plug prongs at the relay. I read that you need to test "across the plug pins" but wasn't sure it that meant to cross one of the meter prongs across both of the plug pins or the way i did it one on each plug pin. The reading didn't change and was at 1 on the meter. From what i read it should read anywhere from 850 to 1000 ohms. Questions - did do the test correctly and if so does this mean my heater is bad? secondly i need to bleed out the NCG's and it looks as though i will need to do this with a non running machine. I did buy the Briston tool but seems like i should have a running heater first.
Any advice?
Peppers...

There is a glitch in how mobile devices encode pictures, versus how Web browsers render them. If you open the picture in a video editing software, and make any modification to the picture; the re-save it right-side up - it should display correctly. In other words, if you upload it directly from a phone, it will look sideways. If you open the picture in a video editing program and then re-save it first; it will probably display upright.

I use my iPad for almost all my internet communication. It has a photo app included . I don’t remember having any problems with my avatar. But it can be frustrating when
they don’t do what you want. Maybe one of the administrators well have a better answer.
