Just bought a CA-2-A16 Ser. # 6061011 from a guy that liquidates estates. So he knew nothing about it other than it had beem rewired. (Had a ground wire hanging out of the power so that was wrong) And that it ran, but he didn't have it running when we got there. So I plugged it in and it immediately started to run. So because of lack of time (about 400 mile drive) we loaded it up. It has the on/off, temperature switch and red light on the front and center. So, I replaced the cord and redid the wiring and replaced the heater, So I turned the CA to the off position and temp to low and then plugged it in hoping to get the heater to warm before turning it on. But the motor started right up, but after 15 minutes, nothing was getting cold. Unsure on what to do next. Is the on off switch bad?

Is the on off switch bad? Not if the motor starts and runs and can be switched off using the control.
Assuming the compressor is functioning, some possible reasons the evaporator doesn't cool are: No refrigerant - possible if it has been purged incorrectly. Blocked float valve. Blocked evaporator. Float valve so worn that there's no pressure difference between high and low sides.

Do you hear any sort of sound from the evaporator (freezing compartment)? Anything like liquid or gas rushing through? Is there any warmth in the top of the compressor or the condenser coils after it's been running for a while?
