I came home to an unplugged DR1 (and spoiled food and a puddle at the bottom of the liner). So I decided to check everything else. Lo and behold, I had the same puddle on my DR2 and the evaporator defrosted. I have no clue how long it had been running, but a measure of my infrared thermometer (not 100% sure it's 100% accurate) says 144 degrees on the top of the dome, about 101 on the condenser tubing at the top, and 54 on the evaporator. I tried tapping the float with a 4x4, though the whole time, I was able to hear SO2 boiling, though not as much as I would've liked. So I turned off the machine and let it cool down. turned it on later, and the coldest the evaporator went down to was 51.
Not sure if anyone has any thoughts? I turned it back off, because I don't want it running like this all night, in the event it just keeps on running and running and running.

Sure sounds like the refrigerant stopped circulating, for some reason, causing it to pull into a vacuum and stop cooling. The temperatures support this. The motor would continue running and producing heat in the dome, causing it to get unusually hot. There would be no refrigerant circulation to carry this heat from the motor to the condenser tubing; so this would not be nearly as hot.
As for the DR1 being unplugged; was there a problem with it and someone unplugged it? Or just a mistake?

I have yet to find out on someone unplugging it, but I'll get to the bottom of that today.
As for my DR-2, I'm guessing that might end up making it's way back to you. I'm bummed, but I only had beer and Body Armor inside (no actual food long term), so nothing to spoil, as I had still been "testing" it. I'm almost wondering if it would be a good candidate for a future motor rebuild as well. If I get a chance today, I might take apart Travis' DR2 and capture some photos for the forum (and the facebook group).
