Is there a source for them? I only have one and it's rusty.

You’re going to have a hard time finding shelves for that model. I need one also.

Maybe I need to build a jig and start making them...

Richard,
If you have the skills to make shelves, others would appreciate that. These old machines often are missing shelves.

I'm not sure how they attatch the bars to the perimeter, so I don't know that I could make an exact duplicate, but I have a welding machineand other fabrication tools. I could make something usable.

I’m thinking of taking the rusted racks in my unit to a metal finisher to have them sandblasted and re-plated. Would they have been chrome or nickel plated?

I’m thinking of taking the rusted racks in my unit to a metal finisher to have them sandblasted and re-plated. Would they have been chrome or nickel plated? Zinc electroplated. Mine are done in nickel and it's fine as long as I'm careful but zinc is better and cheaper for this application. The originals were zinc.

The shelves in my CA-1 had been chrome plated and were fairly rusty. The ones from my CA-2 had been zinc plated, but later someone painted them with white enamel. The plating shop advised to have them all zinc plated. Apparently chrome plating is not suited to a moist environment. Anyway, there's been no deterioration with my zinc plated shelves.

John,
I was also told to avoid chrome in a fridge. I have a whole mess of shelves that need to be plated when I hit the lottery. They're almost never in good shape.

What kind of CK cabinet do you need shelves for? I'll have to look at my shelf collection; I have about 3-4 cabinets that are junk/parts, thus, extra shelves.

I have been working with Richard on trying to get these racks reproduced. He created a CAD drawing and I shared it with a local company that makes wire racks, guards, grates etc. They can make them easily without the curved edge, but the curve, while not entirely impossible is quite problematic. They can make these out of steel and zinc plate them for far less than what it would cost to have an original rack plated at a plating company. They can also them out of stainless, which adds significantly to the cost, but it sounds like even that may be less than having racks plated.
They are working on a quote and I should have actual numbers next week. I also brought them my offset rack for my DRA2. They are going to quote me on making one of those, as well as the rectangular rack to fit that cabinet. There is a set up fee and a cost for one-time production, so the price on any specific rack would go down depending on demand.
With that in mind, I have the following questions:
• Does anybody have interest in purchasing racks for a CK-26-A16 without the curved edge? They would be 14 ¼” X 22 ¼”
• Does anybody have interest in purchasing an offset rack for a DRA2
• Does anybody have interest in purchasing an flat rack for a DRA2
• Is there any other rack anyone is interested in pursuing having reproduced?

I'm trying to understand the "curved edge" you're describing. I have a DR D-2 and a CK-2 which need shelves; and know of at least two other people who need CK-2 shelves.

The curved front edge is unique to the CK-26-A16.

I know for a fact I have a surplus of CK-2 shelves, but I could definitely use shelves for my D-2's as well.

My sad, sad DRA needs all its shelves. Well, it needs a lot more than that but still! This is cool.
