Wow, that’s an interesting find. Not sure it’s worth that much! The cabinet might be a Kelvinator because the door sticker says so. The compressor is definitely GE spacemaker. Not sure about the evaporator. Look in the background near the truck and you will see a Soup Can CA!

If I ever end up building a chimera like that; I would be sure to explain all the parts used and the history of it in the description.

Frigidaire did have evaps similar to that so it might be right.Did any of the Frigidaire evap doors say Freezer chest on them? The compressor and condenser are from a spacemaker. Don't think he will find anyone to buy it at that price.

Don't think he will find anyone to buy it at that price. Agreed that price is way out of line. Several early Frigidaires have been posted on eBay in the 2 to $3000 range; not working. Not sure if they are actually selling at that price; or if the sellers are marking them as sold to inflate the next sale.
I just haven't seen enough different early models to recognize all the evaporators. The pictures are sort of distant; and poorly focused... but it does seem to say Freezer Chest in the Frigidaire script.

There hasn't been a lot of luck putting modern compressors in old flooded evaporator systems due to oil return issues (i.e. the sump is too small to accommodate the amount of oil that is necessary). So I wonder if this spacemaker compressor is one of the most modern replacements that is workable in the long term.

I bet so Birkie. Those things have quite a sump still so it may be able to work. Then again only time would tell.

I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully they pre-filled the evaporator with oil.
When doing the recommissioning of my 31 Frigidaire, I started with all the oil in the compressor sump. Ran it for a few hours then opened the evaporator to adjust the float. I found almost a cup of oil in there! That would require a compressor with a massive sump capacity, as well as extra oil in the system.
