A 1937-38 Crosley Shelvador just popped up on ebay for 3K. Ebay link It is pretty. The seller says he looked for this one for 20 years. I can believe it. The early Crosleys seem very rare. Fortunately for my bank account my white whale is a 1936.

Those are very rare. I've only seen pictures of one other, possibly this one.

I remember reading about the clock earlier this summer. The gist was that it was one of the many clever ideas in refrigerator design that never made it to mainstream.
It is attractive, though!

Those are very rare. I've only seen pictures of one other, possibly this one. You got that right on the rare designation. I'd like to find the manufacturing stats. I've been looking for the last six months on ebay, Craigslist, and facebook. I've only seen one other prewar one show up - a 40 or 41. I've never seen a 36. That one in the picture is in a museum in Australia. I remember reading about the clock earlier this summer. The gist was that it was one of the many clever ideas in refrigerator design that never made it to mainstream. It is attractive, though Makes you wonder what would have made it to the mainstream if WW II hadn't limited refrigerator manufacturing.

I like the Feather-touch knee action door handle, I don't remember seeing an add for that before.

What a find! I'm a little bummed at his recommendation to NOT repair the functionality of the fridge. I disagree with his statement that the compressor would overheat the 'tubes'. I wouldn't want my tube radios next to my compressor as it would heat the compressor up. lol

He's got another one that he's posted that has parts missing for $400. I'm assuming it was his parts machine.

This is amazing - a fridge with a radio built in!
Thanks for sharing the link. And I definitely agree with you guys - the whole machine, fridge and radio, should be restored to functionality!

That's a great fridge. That comment about restoring it is complete BS. In a modern air conditioned home, that fridge and radio would have an easier life than it ever had when new.
I also like the other Crosley. That seller is great. I've bought from him a few times.
