Hey all. Been scanning around this forum for a while now but I can’t seem to find some of the answers I am looking for.
First, I have a CA-2-B16....I am missing the main power cord. My plan was to make a cord. Unless there is an issue with doing so?
I plugged in the top before I knew much and just turned it on. The compressor started...I quickly turned it back off. After finding this forum I went after the heater. I have nothing at the plug terminals as far as an ohm reading. So I pulled the plug on the back of the top and I cannot seem to find the heater or the wiring? Any help would be appreciated.

Chris,
There's no problem in making a new cord. You will need both the plug that connects to the relay and the cabinet light plug to do so. The light plug has been reproduced by Zach and I may have the other.
It sounds like your heater is bad, as they are 90% of the time. The heater and the wiring is way back inside that hole that the plug covers. Remove the plug and shine a light through the hole. To remove the heater, make a small hook in a piece of coat hanger and grab the wires going to it and pull it out. Do this with the unit unplugged. I have found the wiring in the CA B's to always be well past crunchy. What I have done for testing is to disconnect the other end of those two wires by removing the relay cover and finding them there. I then buy a new heater and connect that to a test cord. When you rewire the unit do it the way GE intended.

Ok Awesome! I see what you are talking about now. I will have to look at getting the heater out tomorrow. So cool working on this old machine.

Hello Chris Welcome to the forum !
There’s a CA Service manual you can look at and download in the ca section if it would make it easier. It has some pictures and a wiring diagram , that might help.

I did look around on that for a bit but just on my Phone. I am going back today to see if I can pull out that heater. Thanks for the help!
