Midway through a trip to Chicago, I stumbled across a P44 cabinet listed locally. The P44 is a porcelain version of the G40 and S40 painted cabinets that would be used with a DR1 unit.
The only reasons this is noteworthy is that I've never seen this cabinet before. I suspect that most DR1 buyers were value conscious and chose to upgrade to a painted D2 than upgrade the finish of a DR1. Regardless, I am thrilled to be able to have a porcelain DR1.
The unit is the worst example of a CK1 I have ever seen. Someone dismantled it. The condenser and compressor are still intact, though off the deck. The entire float and everything below is gone. My first thought was to drop it in a trash pile on the way home, but then I realized that it would be a perfect learning tool.
I feel sorry for my friend who tolerated me texting the seller after midnight to make a deal and then to detour with me to pick up this mess. The cabinet is missing all the shelves. I suspect those used in the painted cabinets won't fit, they never do.
Pictures will come after bath time.
