Well that sucks, I found a replacement chiller tray on eBay today that is right for my fridge. I got this email from the seller just now I packaged up your item and put it by the mailbox at my house and the mail person ran over the box.
Back to searching...That’s terrible! So sorry to hear that. I don't believe it... Who would put a package on the ground to be picked up by the postal carrier?? I'll bet they figured they sold it to cheap... That way they can put it on later for more money...

I’m sorry to hear of your bad luck. Yes, people frequently do things that defy logic, sometimes even myself.

Thanks for the comments. I'm still shaking my head over this one. I had just watched the GE 1941 sales video that showed the correct tray, found it on ebay, bought it , and got the above note within 8 hours. While it could be a ploy, I'd prefer to put it down to "truth is stranger than fiction". Yes, I'll be paying extra for the shipping on the next one.

I can’t believe they left it on the ground by mail box. That’s absurd!!! Hopefully you find another .

I was thinking, Ask them to send you a pic of the broken tray that will clear it all up.... I've done that before and it's funny the responses you get...

Whether or not the chiller tray was broken, you’re not going to get it. I will keep watching for one for you.

Thanks Travis, I appreciate it. I've already ordered another from Ebay though. I've been pouring over the materials that I have and the 1941 video but can't make up my mind which one was "stock" in my flat top. I need to scan some photos to show what I mean. Like you said, I'm not getting that broken one either way. The seller refunded my money - I'm out nothing except for some missed expectations. Not worth the time on my part to chase.
I just go back from the EPA certification - I'll know if I passed in a week. I'm pretty sure I did so time to start rewiring.

How do we find out which is the right chiller for our particular MT? (Mine is a '34 CK.)

How do we find out which is the right chiller for our particular MT? (Mine is a '34 CK.) I'm looking at ads and the 1941 sales video . In that video, it shows all the main models for 1941 and the different chiller trays. Given the number of refrigerators sold, I'm guessing that numerous 3rd parties sprang up to make chiller trays, likely to spec or as replacements since few have a maker's mark. I've found a couple of depression glass ones that I doubt GE made. On the photos below, the lower end models had a clear glass chiller with a frosted drawer beneath. My fridge is a low end model with "De Luxe" add-ons so I'm assuming clear glass. Specifically, the last photo below. It's interesting to note that even within the same model year, the adornments on the glass trays changed. Note the profile on the back of the chiller tray. This one appears to be special made for this model.

Adjusted for inflation (2017, per westegg.com) those prices in the Akron Beacon Journal range from $2183.65 ($129 in 1941) to a whopping $7741.14 ($259 in 1941). Sometimes when I see an optional feature missing from a vintage refrigerator (or stove, or sewing machine) I wonder, "Why didn't they spring for the extra ten bucks? But translated into today's currency, a $10 difference becomes a $300 difference.
I'm not totally convinced by the westegg calculations, however, because 259 is double 129, so why aren't the adjusted-for-inflation amounts doubled as well?

259 in 41 equals 4528 now according to saving.org. The first figure was similar.
This is why older people took good care of their things. They were expensive, durable and demanded care.
