Hi all, I'm going to be traveling to Baltimore for business tomorrow (Thursday, Feb 8). They have a generation 2 Flir One thermal imaging attachment for sale (for Android phones) for around $100. This is an obsolete model, but it actually has a better sensor (4x the thermal resolution) than the consumer version of generation 3 model (which retails for $199). It has the same sensor as the Generation 3 pro model (sold for $399). As far as I can tell, they have three in stock, in-store only. I have no idea if any will be left when I stop by tomorrow. If anybody is interested in one, please shoot me a message. The downsides to the generation 2 model are its relatively small rechargeable battery, and the fact that it is somewhat delicate (stops working after a few drops, seemingly due to a poor internal connection with the battery). Also, note that it's useless without a working battery. Lithium polymer batteries decay by about 20% per year. But it's really cheap. The sensor itself cost twice as much if bought individually. Here is a thermal video of a CK, taken on a somewhat similar type of camera: Here's a video taken from a FLIR one. Unlike the video of the monitor top, it has two lenses (one infrared, one visible) and stitches the image together to emphasize physical details:

Actually that's quite brilliant! But I have no intention of getting Android, now or ever. The offer is much appreciated however.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those - the hot high-side dome sure looks different than the CK. I'm eager to try it out on a DR and see what it reveals about those pig evaporators in action.

congregations on becoming an administrator. Indeed! Now maybe you can better see the internal workings here.

Thanks! Unfortunately, they discovered their inventory system thought they had more cameras than they actually had in stock. So it looks like I'll be discovering the internal workings of this forum software way before I'll be discovering the internal thermal workings of pig evaporators after all.

That's not unusual; I've been there.
Lots of times the people there know full well that the last few in "inventory" either aren't there or are hopelessly damaged.
But "Loss Prevention" won't let them delete or throw away what it says in inventory; it takes notarized statements from 3 people on the board of directors to change it, because someone might load stuff in their car and change inventory records to hide it.
Bet's on that next time this comes up, "Inventory" will -still- show 4 in stock.

That's pretty cool. Too bad the nearest micro center is about 300 miles from me.
