Yep - it's a strange one - I just went out to the shop with a micro mini Allen wrench and probed into one of the holes. There is another tube inside the ones that have been punctured. Looks like Kelvinator did things differently.

Hello again - I'm making slow progress on bringing the Kelvinator back to life. It's rewired and I've cleaned and lightly lubricated the thermostat. It's apart with old paint removed and getting ready for primer :-) One question I have is regarding the door gasket. The one I found at antiqueappliances.com that has the same profile and width is 1/8 inch taller than the original. I know the door is somewhat adjustable and I imagine the original was probably a little taller when it was new but wanted to ask the pros if the added 1/8 might be a problem in getting the door to seal properly? The gasket is described as being fairly hard on their website... Thanks for the assist.

If Antique Appliances recommended it, more than likely your original one had shrunk and theirs is exactly like the original was when it was new. It should work fine, but you may need to heat the gasket with a heating gun to soften it, and then leave the door closed overnight so it will conform.

We're having fun now! I'm pretty sure I've spent more on paint, door seals, relays, etc. than this fridge cost new, but I'm having fun getting it back together. And I'm pretty confident it was never offered in burnt orange back in the day... Will hopefully have it back together and cooling beer in the not too distant future .

Well... the good news is I have cold beer and the fridge looks great all back together. The bad news is that the Ranco A10 thermostat appears to not be working. Have had it running for a good 4 hours and it's made ice and cooled way down as it should but the compressor has never cycled off. Of course the black ink imprint with the exact model number of the thermostat is mostly rubbed off. Is it worth fiddling with this thermostat or is there a semi universal replacement I can order? Thermostat says "combined load with signal circuit must not exceed 1600VA" and signal circuit .1 AMP 230 V.D.C. / 1AMP 230 V.A.C. and max rating motor amps @ 115AC volts full load 13 - locked rotor 78 / 230AC full load 6.3 locked rotor 6.9
Any guidance is most appreciated :-)

That looks like a good pick to me. Comes with mounting hardware and several different shaft configurations for the original knob too.

Thanks to everyone that participated in this post. The new thermostat works great and the fridge is keeping things nice and cold. The final addition to this project is a functional yet not very good looking wire rack I made in welding class last week :-)

That's a beautiful Kelvinator you have there!! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures and I'm very happy for you that now you have an awesome vintage refrigerator to use and enjoy for years to come!! All three racks look great to me! Is the middle one the one you made? I seriously can't tell for sure!!

Yep - the middle one is the one I made. The best part is the galvanized wire came from a bunch of those political yard sign holders that I chopped up after the elections :-)
