Hi,
What are the thoughts of using car wax to improve the shine on a vintage fridge? The outer coating on my Marvel fridge is dull. It's okay, just thought I could bring some shine to it. I don't want to paint it with appliance epoxy. I just want it to still be original and rust spots are minimal. My untrained eye says that the outer white coating is in pretty good condition considering its age.
Would waxing scratch the paint? Would be damaging it? This wasn't my idea. I came across it in an online blog.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Rod

I have done this many times, and depending on the condition of the paint, it can work quite well. I'm not aware of any issues it could create.

I did it to my original painted 1940 Hotpoint and it really made it pop. Mine has some chunks of paint missing in frequently touched areas. It really helps protect what’s left.

Just wanted to add to this, I also have used car wax on many occasions, and generally it’s produced really good results!

I've also used car wax on my '53 GE Combination and '54 Coldspot. They both have painted cabinets and the really look nice.
