Scooter, I hate to tell you this, but the earlier DRs have a solid deck under the neck piece. You won’t find access to much wiring by lowering the evaporator plate. Yep, no access hardly at all without removing so2 and cutting lines. Big job head then.

I was afraid of that. To add insult to injury, I had a lead on a replacement DR unit with a rather lousy painted cabinet about two hours north of me on FB Marketplace. I asked the seller for a little bit more info about it (model number and if it worked) and she said they had just left for Florida but would be back in a week and a half. After waiting patiently for her return, I sent another message asking again for more information about it. She said they had just gotten back the evening before and she would get back to me shortly. Finally after asking a third time, she told me that they had sold it to someone else upon their return from Florida. Not quite sure why she was dodgy about it, being that I had inquired about it first, but apparently it was too much effort for her to verify the model number. However, all she could tell me about its working condition was that “she didn’t know, but it still worked the last time they plugged it in a few years ago”, which seemed suspect - perhaps she knew something more than that and didn’t want me asking more details. Regardless, not meant to be I guess.
