I really enjoyed meeting David and I learned quite a bit from him. I enjoyed helping to resurrect this piece of GE history. Very cool stuff. I only had to shriek away in terror a few times from the SO2. It was quite a lot of fun meeting you in person as well. It's great to see members of our community in real life. All of us have stories to tell and things to share that just aren't going to come across online in written words. It worked out well this week that I could stay in town a few days while you were off duty as well, and Travis was in town.
LOL about shrieking away in terror from the SO2! As with most of us, your first experience with SO2 is enough to make you fully understand why it was quickly replaced with less odious compounds!
I really appreciate your help loading the truck, as well. This morning I'm preparing a storage location and unloading things here.... myself LOL!

Ooh, please take a picture of the back of the truck, or of the stuff packed into the storage facility Sorry to hear the float isn't the DR kind, they are so convenient. It is a small shame they moved away from that design. It's one of the little details I like about DRs.

It is a small shame they moved away from that design. It's one of the little details I like about DRs. It is neat that they had the forethought to make the float needle lift feature on the DR's. As Travis said, this Hotpoint is the "Cheap Seats" model so apparently that was one of the things they opted to save cost on. I'm going to do a project intro thread on the other fridges today, time permitting!

Birkie,
This is a 33 or 34 model. I don't think we opened the purge screw enough turns to verify whether or not it was like the original DR float. That first float design was only used in the first 2-3 yrs, 27-29 possibly.

Travis, I opened the screw all the way, there is no pin.

I stand corrected. That makes since as it would be a later model DR float and not disrupt the known manufacturing timeline.
