Hi! Need help understanding what this is. Just picked it up. THANK YOU Can't figure out how to post pics of it. It has 3 glass doors. No legs. Says kelvinator refrigeration on the back and Gloekler Erie Pa on front. Attachments:

Looks like a post-war commercial display cooler (refrigerator).
Or possibly a rare and obscure porcelain greenhouse?
Man I bet that sucker is heavy!
Is there any sign of refrigerating equipment left?
This thread probably goes in the "Other vintage refrigerators" section. Maybe one of the Staff people will move it.

Thank you! I have another that I'm going to be posting about when I get pictures.... there's a metal radiator thing inside of it, but the compressor was cut off the back and is long gone now

And man it's HEAVY!!!!!!!!!! Our neighbor helped us pull it off the trailer with his four wheeler and the guy we bought it from put it on with a front end loader.

Yeah, we used a forklift to get lowly two-door I'm a truck. It was probably only 400 lbs

Looks like there's some shelves left; that's kind of rare.

It's super cool. Was TERRIBLE to move.... thank god for good neighbors and cases of beer for gratitude. The shelves are all still there.... the bottom is rusted out, but it's quite solid!!! I have such a love for old refrigerators.... it's so strange. I'm having another one fixed.... well, it's on its way (was supposed to go and be done last year but I spent our money on other toys....) it's a double glass door monitor top. I'll definitely post pics when it's back together. It's in pieces now as I'm having the frame rebuilt. It's very similar to the one I'm going to try to post a pic of but it only has two doors. Any idea the value? I know, sight unseen, but it's in pretty darn good shape.... still has shelves. I'm having the oak in the doors replaced/refinished too. I bought it when I was 15 for what reason, I'm still not sure. Has the monitor, but the guy separated it so "the unsightly thing" could be wired to his basement.

My monitor doesn't have the grill though.... I bet that hurts the value. Attachments:

And to be perfectly honest here.... we just had our third girl. Just bought a house... even though I'd love to hang onto this for 20 years and my other one for 20 more years, it just seems dumb. We're tossing the idea around about selling them, because kids are expensive and why not make memories with the money instead of staring at it. But I'm so emotionally attached to my first one........I'm so glad there are others like me.

Is the unit you are thinking of selling the one you posted a picture of? If so, that is a highly desirable cabinet and monitor top. Does it run and cool? Both are the cabinet and cabinet would have been made around 28 or 29. Not exactly sure about the year of manufacture.

Ya, I'm thinking of selling both. The monitor top (second pic) is almost identical to mine... only difference is that mine has two doors.... Has the oak when you open the doors... the guy I bought it from said it would run (20years ago) but I have never tried. I plan to have a refrigeration guy look at it when I get it back from the Amish. I've seen they are pretty hard to find. I tried to call GE but they hung up on me (assholes!!!!)

I posted about this a long time ago, but then didn't end up having it fixed so I didn't want to post shitty pictures of it. The wood box that frames it rotted out, so that's what is being replaced. All the porcelain is great! All the latches and hinges are great. The guy that I bought it from hated having the monitor on top so he put ply wood (not sure what would be original under the monitor) and then extended the hose thing? So it could be wired to his basement..... so that's what allowed water damage to the frame. And one of the glass panes is broken.... I'm getting that fixed too.

My monitor doesn't have the grill though.... I bet that hurts the value. Does that mean that yours has a different top (refrigeration unit)? The one in the picture with the refrigeration coils made of metal tubing painted white is DR unit; it's the oldest and (in some circles) the most desirable. Somewhat later ones were still circular in shape, but made of sheet metal rather than tubing and have two control knobs mounted front-and-center on the unit. These are known as CK units. Even later models look like a mostly featureless white box with a single control knob in front. These later ones work great for keeping the cabinet cool, but can be seen as less desirable. Is yours one of these?

Sorry for coming late to the party here.
So you have a two door monitor top with glass in the doors. The unit was split apart so that it could be put into the basement? I would have to see pictures to better understand that.
Value is all over the place. That 3 door model has been on ebay for years.
DR units like the one shown have a bad habit of committing suicide. In any case, please send me some pictures at stlmovieguy@yahoo.com
The three door that you just rescued likely had a belt driven Kelvinator unit once upon a time.
