Well, my laptop crashed while typing a reply. It goes to show just how quirky modern technology can be we well Sorry to hear about the cracked line, and compromised windings, but I'm glad it's on the list to be restored at some point. Maybe when it's on the operating table, you'll find out it has a bolted float too. Fingers crossed about the R124. It's great that some of the initial "smoke tests" have been encouraging. Those old DRs will be sure to put it through a challenge (especially over time, and as ambient temperature drop). Thank you very much for sharing.

We had it on an annie. We wanted it to run more than anyone. Yep the run winding was drawing 18 amp, start was off.

It might as well be a guinea pig. I am betting it's a bolted dome. It's impossible to tell if the float is bolted unless opened. The shipper said the roads are shit in California. I told him that it all looks great in the movies. The roads ARE shit in California. I know, because I'm going to drive towards there later today. Even in affluent areas, the roads are shit, and I would cringe everytime I went over a bump when transporting monitor tops on my last trip out there (a CK and a DR1).
