It’s probably just the smell from being closed and unused

I agree with Travis all the old fridges I’ve picked up seemed to have a funky smell inside. I make a mixture or Clorox and water and go over the whole inside. That seems to help get rid of the old smell. Prop the door open so everything can dry and air out well . Mine gets really quiet after a couple of minutes running, it works very well and we’ll freeze things if I have it set to low .
You got a good price and 30$ for delivery is well worth it.

I did that too. I’ve replaced the power cord and the door seal so far, the interior rewiring is next but obviously more of a undertaking. I added a ground too. Grounded to the nut around the light bulb plug

It’s here!! I’ll start a new thread in the CK section as I fix it up. I couldn’t help myself though I had to test it, let it run for about 5 minutes rattles went away after minute 1 and the freezer was down to 26* when I shut it down. I was a little paranoid at fit because there’s a funny smell in the ice box, but my wife insists it didn’t resemble burnt matches, and it’s pretty faint. You’ve really gotta sniff for it so I don’t think it’s a leak. From what I’ve heard if it were a leak I would KNOW. Guess it’s just funky old smells from sitting Yep many of them seem to have a SO2 smell. I can tell it's from the cabinet somehow. In my workshop I have a Monitor Top cabinet with a home built test top. It has a Frigidaire unit on it which has never seen SO2. Yet, the cabinet seems to have a slight SO2 smell. May be from a failed unit in years past. Who knows? Travis and I were talking about that a while back and think it could have been a treatment on the Thermo Craft insulation to keep it from deteriorating. Sincerely, David

I thought the same thing about a so2 smell when I bought my fridge. Then again like the others mine was not being used when I got it. It shows no sign of a leak
Glad the delivery and initial start up went well!
My only outlet option was a gfi. I’ve heard they are prone to tripping gfi’s so I never hooked up the ground wire when I rewired my fridge. This could be a wives tale for all I know.

Im using a GFCI plug. I’ll report back in regards to the tripping. With the relatively minor amount of power these draw it shouldn’t be an issue, we’ll see
