Looking for a top unit for my two door cabinet. Thought I had a FEA unit locked down from a member here but haven’t heard anything from them in awhile. Let me know what you have. I’m not very picky about what model of unit it is, other than a proven runner, just want to get it up and going for now at least Here’s my previous thread about IDing the cabinet if that helps with cooling unit matching. I’m not very knowledgeable about what will fit/work on my cabinet. monitortop.freeforums.net/thread/1384/help-identifying-model

Hi Colin. It seems that this group is made up of people with very different careers and lifestyles. It may be that the member you contacted has been distracted by work. I, for one, go on work assignments that come up with little notice and can take me out of the country for weeks or months at a time. Something similar could be why you haven't heard from whoever you've been corresponding with. I would keep on reminding them.

I was hoping the same thing but I can see on their profile that they have been on the forum multiple times a week without responding to messages.

It was me who did not get back with colin91. I did talk with Travis and he said the FEA should cool the box ok but the evaporator will be behind the post between the doors. This will keep you from using the freezer if that matters. I have been more than extremely busy running my small HVAC business. I wear all the hats with help from my son. I do not have a bookkeeper. dispatcher or crew of workers to send out, I do it all. This summer has been crazy so ya I got too busy too follow through on my offer, for that I apologize.
If you are still interested in the FEA I would be sending one that needs rewired. The weather is cooler now and I could find time to bring it home and test run it to make sure it still works and is full of R12 still. If you would rather wait and see what you can find thats ok with me.

Life gets pretty busy sometimes. I am impressed at what Gill does accomplish. For a couple of years, I not only managed a theater, but also did some projection and sound service for a small group of customers. That ran me nuts. Having to think about what you might need on a job that was a few hours away was daunting.
I've got no doubt that a standard FEA will cool a 2 dr cabinet, but the post will block the evaporator. I've rarely seen any unit, let alone a double evap. unit for sale without a cabinet. That's why I have a CK35 hiding as a spare for my many problematic DR3's.

Wasn't trying to bash on you at all just wanted to get a cooling unit so I have the motivation to work on the rest of the cabinet. Not being able to use the freezer doesn't really bother me for what I intend to use the box for. That being said I am interested in the FEA still. Shoot me a message when you have time to pull it out of your storage and ship it out. Thanks

..... I have been more than extremely busy running my small HVAC business. I wear all the hats with help from my son.
I really understand how it goes. I worked with a friend at a car repair shop for several years. Small business and just the two of us. I vowed never again. Thanks for taking the time to help out here when you can. It's well appreciated!

You are welcome! Its a good thing I am a workaholic or I could never keep up the pace I do at times. I figure it will either keep me going or kill me someday.

The FEA is home and gets real frosty still. This one is a war baby, the control is dated 1944 and the blue porcelain evap was a WWII thing also, they had to stop using stainless steel evaps during the war. I noticed it has all cloth wiring also. I would think that was because rubber was in demand elsewhere. The fan leads are still rubber though and not that great of condition. FEA FEA

Very nice. My wife and I would like to find a WWII machine some day, due to the story behind them (i.e. the special permission GE got to build them, due to the importance of refrigeration, and the massive material savings)

The time scale on that is "some time in the next few years", by that time we might happen upon a lonely cabinet in need of WWII top.
