My CA-2-A16 has never had an issue starting with it's PTC relay, nor does it ever struggle. I'm not saying what Blackhorse said is wrong, but I am saying a CA can run fine with one.
Curious if anyone has ever had an issue with the unloader sticking? I think the unloader is 100% necessary with a functioning float valve.

When I get it to start and the compressor goes to cycle, I can hear the unloader release when it spins down. Good idea though!

My CA-2-A16 has never had an issue starting with it's PTC relay, nor does it ever struggle. I'm not saying a PTC relay can't work, on a motor in good condition. But with a known hard-start problem, the higher resistance and short start duration of the PTC is a handicap. And they aren't as reliable; the ceramic disc can shatter from thermal shock, the silver contact on the disc burns through where the conductor touches, some of the original-equipment PTC's were subject to recall a few years ago for setting people's kitchens on fire. I find it interesting that the PTC not working on 2-year-old refrigerators doesn't merit a recall. Unless it sets houses on fire.......

Fire tends to grab people’s attention.
