I slipped up and bought a much younger model today. Sigh, I don't know what all my older girls are going to do to me. This beautiful specimen of 1966 Frigidaire goodness needed to be saved. I even nabbed the matching ice cube trays that were tagged across the room. This has a bottom freezer and TWO pedals and frost free. It will be interesting to see how it's energy usage compares to lets say a DR3. Attachments:

For a fridge made after the Beatles got popular that looks pretty good!

You're going to squeal with delight when you press a pedal and the door opens. Another collector posted some service data on it. It shows the three ice trays. I guess I got them all.

I will think I am in the wrong house if I see this in Travis's.

I can confirm, I did squeal with delight when I pressed both pedals and saw both doors swing out. This thing is cool. Not monitor top cool but pretty close. It's going to clean up nice. It was refreshing to move a "light weight" model that isn't top heavy for once.

I just plugged it in. I changed the burned out bulb. It's cooling very well. It draws 226 watts. All the space in the doors is mind-boggling, eggs, butter, etc.
I don't consider it lightweight, but I guess compared to a comparable DR3 on a 3 dr cabinet it would be, this modern beauty is 16 cu ft.

I'm adding up all of the things that would be using energy on this thing. It's crazy. Mullion heaters, butter conditioner, defrost timer, fans, and yes, that meter miser. It's a nice fridge but if you want to point to the time in history when we started becoming energy gluttons...this isn't far off. Not that I'm concerned about this thing being an energy hog. I knew it would be. At least it is still marching on.

Look at it this way, I would have to run four DR1's to have this much space and still not have freezer space, butter conditioner, a light or self defrost.

The butter conditioner is just a normal spot to put your butter. This fridge has the butter compartment in the normal spot on top of the door storage. However, the conditioner is a small heater that warms up the base of the butter compartment so that butter is always at the right spreading temperature. It even has a dial so that you can set how soft the butter is. I have a better method though and it actually works great. Just set out a stick of butter on a dish or a covered plate and let it sit at room temperature. That's it. If you get salted butter it won't go bad unless it sits there for a few weeks. Seriously, I didn't think it would stay good but it does. The trick is keeping the butter and the plate free of crumbs and making sure it is somewhat tightly covered. Unless your room temperature hits 90 you don't have to worry about it being runny.

I was bad again and brought a younger model home. This one had spent a number of years in the basement of a very 1970's home. It's polishing up rather well. The paper towels and 409 are brown. I am so pleased that it has all its parts, less the manual. With sadness in my heart, I have offered to sell the stainless Frigidaire to another collector that had expressed interest it it. My garage is truly packed and the robins egg blue interior of this GE is much better. No foot pedals though, Ugh! Special thanks to Ray, his nice friend Mike and his roommate Lucas who tolerated my collection. I got the pink GE tolerably clean and plugged in. I need to clean the condenser and work on the shelves more. The grooves on the shelves are a BITCH to clean. No popping sodas in there buddy! It also has a butter conditioner, but only three settings vs the five in the Frigidaire.
