Hello,
i would have some informations about an General Electric CG-1-A16 (Globe top fridge about 1920's...)
May be this post is not in the good folder...If that sorry,it's my first visit.
Did someone have manual or technical guide for this model ?
If an book exist for this model, can you give the name and author ?
And another questions about a restoration.
How i can change the ruban around the door ? Where can i buy it ?

Hello Axel, welcome to the forum. I moved your post to the CG section so that future people can find it. For starters the service manual that goes over the globe top is at the top of the CK section. You will find your model in that manual. By "ruban" did you mean the door seal? If so, we have had good luck with a Mcmaster Carr door seal which is self adhesive, you can look it up by typing "Mcmaster Carr 93085K14" into google or another search engine. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Oh, and we would love to see some pictures of your globe top, we don't get that many of this interesting model. Yes, when i use the term "RUBAN" infact its for "Door seal"
It's marvellous if i can find this seal for remplacement.
But did you have an link to order it ?
I will soon post pictures about my General Electric CG-1-A16.
What is the difference between the model CG-1-A16 and CG-1-B16 ?

Wow, I don't think we have had a member from France before. Welcome! Your English is just fine being that you are across the globe. I tried to get a direct link for your door seal but the site wouldn't let me. Here is what you need to do. Go to www.mcmaster.comThen in the search bar enter 93085K14 and hit enter. Since that is a mcmaster part number it will take you to the door seal you need. Then you can specify how many feet you need. I would buy more than you need in case you make a mistake. As far as what the difference is between the form A and form B...not much. The only difference that I know of is the evaporator, the part inside that gets cold. The form A has a skimpy evaporator that only frosts on the left side and bottom. The form B has a better evaporator which has a shelf that frosts and has a portion of the right side that frosts. This gives the machine more capacity. Let us know if you have any more questions. Hopefully mcmaster carr ships to France. Good luck! |

Hopefully mcmaster carr ships to France. I suspect not. Last time I looked, they stopped shipping outside the U.S. , although they apparently used to. Hence my use of Don's door seal via ebay. |

If McMaster Carr doesn't ship internationally, call them. Their customer service is exceptional and if you explain the dilemma, they'll probably provide the manufacturer's name and part number so another distributor can be found. Also, if that doesn't work, try a company called "Trim Lok". They sell similar products. Much higher prices, but, it's better than nothing.

This door seal is flanged on the door or on the refrigerator? I believe the original seal on these cabinets had little rubber feet that pressed into holes around the door. A lot of the later monitor top cabinets were like this. You can't really find a seal with rubber feet anymore (I don't know of any) but that is why I suggested the self stick door seal. |

The last of the cabinets to use the seal with the buttons like Cablehack described was the CA form A from 1933. From 1934-on, they were the style that tucks under the Textolite. The ones like Don at Rusty Metal Rescue reproduces. I've had good luck with the McMaster-Carr bulb seal replacing both styles. It also works well as a replacement for the fabric covered cord seal used on the wood framed DR cabinets.

Is it possible to find this seal reference McMaster 93085K14 on EBAY or AMAZON ?
